Rockauto and Tariffs
I am wondering If 25% tariffs are in place already for the car parts from Rockauto?

Canada is keeping the tariffs on while DJTs threats are still there, so I would expect a tariff to import to Canada right now. Better to order locally or Amazon until DJT gives up his dumb threats.

It’s the customers paying for the parts so just pass the cost back to them.
Even with the tariffs, I would order from due to their good customer service and their wide variety of brands of parts.

Same as others - wondering how this is going to affect things.
You dont pay this directly though right? The final cost should be the landed cost with RockAuto (?)

Where are the parts shipping from? This should tell you everything you need to know.
Just be clear that even though you blame Trump, this is Canada charging you this tariff. You might be better off going to your local Auto parts store and order from their catalogue to get the same part at a similar price.
If we really wanted to hurt the US, we should just stop shipping them critical minerals silently. Tariffs would drop probably in a week, as they have almost no rare earth/critical minerals they need and Ukraine is backtracking, Greenland told them where to go. They are trying to bully us to get those minerals they need.

These tariffs only apply to goods originating from the U.S., which shall be considered as those goods eligible to be marked as a good of the U.S. in accordance with the Determination of Country of Origin for the Purpose of Marking Goods (CUSMA Countries) Regulations.
Tariffs in the form of the surtax apply if the goods meet one of these criteria:
- marked as made in, produced in, or originating in the US
- they have no country of origin marking but there is no evidence that the goods are the product of a country other than the US
So basically, if something is on that giant list and is made in the USA, then tariffs should apply. However, I don't think car parts are subject to tariffs based on the list? The only relevant tariff item I can find is 8708.22.00 for "Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 87.01 to 87.05," but it seems specific to windows: "Other parts and accessories of bodies (including cabs): Front windscreens (windshields), rear windows and other windows."
HS 87.01 to 87.05 seems to cover most motor vehicles, with 87.03 specifically for passenger cars: "Motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons, including station wagons and racing cars."
If you are able to find your parts on FinditParts.com, they may have the country of origin and even the tariff code listed for you to verify.
CBSA is administering the tariffs but the importer is responsible, so I assume the shipping company will charge you if tariffs are indeed applicable.

Nope, bought brake pads by Bosch and Raybestos, which were made in Mexico and China.

And where exactly do you find Canadian grown pineapples and oranges? A lot of things simply are not grown or produced in Canada, so American it is. Even though things may be grown or produced in other countries does not mean anyone will bother to import them into Canada. Supply chains into the US are strong and long standing. Even if these are overcome it will take a long time to do.

Tariff is paid by the importer (buyer). It's not levied by the seller.

Correct. Every single Canadian in the entire country is not buying anything that has any connection to the US in any way. Penalty: atomic detonation in the centre of their body.

For what I purchased there wasn’t any extra charges. No mention of tariffs on their website.
